council & decisions

Township Council makes decisions that affect how Severn is governed, how municipal services are delivered and how public money is spent. This section explains significant Council decisions in plain language and, whenever possible, links directly to the Township documents behind them.

What Council Has Decided

Council decisions are based on agendas, staff reports, presentations, bylaws, minutes and other official Township records. Severn Explained separates the staff recommendation from the decision Council actually made and identifies when a matter is still subject to future Council consideration.

How to Read a Council Decision

A Council decision does not always mean that something has already happened. A decision may authorize staff to proceed, approve funding, direct further investigation, adopt a bylaw or policy, or send a matter back for additional information. Severn Explained will identify the status of each matter so residents can see what has been decided and what still has to happen.
